What's a Doula?

Your doula is like a BFF / pregnancy coach / protective big sister holding space for all the things pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Doulas get into the personal reasons and comfort level you have with choosing the unmedicated birth experience. I look out for you and support your wellness, whether this is birth #1, 2, 3 or whatever number. We leave the medical side of things to the folks wearing scrubs. Doulas are trained professionals who provide skilled physical support and evidenced based information. You deserve a doula who empowers you. A Caring Season Doula honors each birth journey by fully supporting pregnant families getting their baby earthside.

Who uses Doulas?

ANY new or soon to be parent who could have a different pregnancy journey with a birth doula. I provide the greater Baton Rouge area helpful individual support, whether or not you plan a “traditional” hospital birth. I got U. The birth doula does not replace your partner or visitors during childbirth.(Mother and Mother-in-laws can both be included completely at the birth location's discretion.) The key to getting prepared for your birth, includes the other parent as a co-star on the team. I love including a supportive partner and giving them relief when they need it.

Is this a new trend, or do I really need a Doula support?

Trust the facts. Louisiana’s maternal mortality rate is 58.1 deaths per 100,000

births, which is the highest in the U.S. The state legislature stepped up

efforts by making new maternal health statutes into law. The legislature has charged the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) to expand use of Midwives and Doulas. In 2022 all health insurances cover Midwifery care, and DHH is creating a state Doula Registry Board for expanding Medicaid reimbursement to Doulas beginning in 2023. Some HSA and FSA accounts are covering doula support services with a referral from your doctor, psychiatrist or midwife.

Are you supportive of medicated and un-medicated births?

Yes. I am comfortable with both options. I come into your birth or parenting space totally judgment-free-no matter what. If you decide to have an epidural, or scheduled Cesarean birth, then you will receive prenatal support services and after the baby arrives postpartum visits. As a certified pregnancy health coach I offer a variety of nontraditional services, so check out the Maternal Health and Wellness options. The peaceful relaxation sessions for example has one virtual "Your body and this pregnancy" session, and another in person private visits for calming relaxation exercises and practice labor comfort tips. The customized plan meets your goals for the birth experience.
